Mission Statement

To introduce youths to Jazz as a vehicle intent on preparing them for successful adult living. To support the preservation of jazz through youths. To remove obstacles for deserving youths to develop their talents as jazz musicians. To build a jazz community of youths that is inclusive and representative of Western North Carolina.

Intent

The intent of Youth At Jazz, Inc. is to provide financial resources to sustain band direction and a viable youth jazz program within Western North Carolina. Also, it is intent on providing scholarships and support to youths. The overriding intent is preparing youths for successful adult living.

Near Term Deliverables

Youth At Jazz, Inc. will offer collaboration with and support to any other organization; bent on enabling youths to succeed as adults. Support may include the services of band directors, music teachers, tutors, life coaches, technicians and other professionals. Each youth will be offered an instrument, music lessons, books and transportation. Youth At Jazz, Inc. will reach out to youth within Western North Carolina.

Historical Background

Youth At Jazz, Inc. was founded in Asheville, North Carolina by Davidson Jones. Youth At Jazz Inc., a not-for- profit organization was incorporated in the state of North Carolina June 6, 2006. Also, effective June 6, 2006, the organization received 501(c)(3) status.
